Dakota Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly Make Their Daytime Debut

Save this story Save Story Save this story Dakota Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly’s rumored romance has been kept relatively under wraps, and their latest outing is just as low-key on the fashion front. The pair were spotted leaving a studio in Los Angeles, each offering a different take on off-duty dressing.

Johnson, ever the purveyor of effortless and considered basics , stayed firmly within her tried-and-tested wardrobe territory. The actor wore a long black leather coat over a simple black tank, paired with straight-leg blue jeans cinched with a leather belt. A gray knit was draped nonchalantly over her shoulders, while black sunglasses, layered silver necklaces, and a pair of black velvet ballet flats from The Row completed the look. Her signature blunt bangs were present and correct.

MGK leaned into his more rebellious sartorial sensibilities. The musician wore a boxy, contrast-stitched dark denim jacket with an exaggerated collar, layered over a white top, with loose-fitting dark trousers and chunky, well-worn tan boots. He also opted for layers of silver jewelry. While their respective wardrobes might seem worlds apart, both share an appreciation for relaxed silhouettes and a certain devil-may-care attitude to getting dressed.

The pair have made relatively few public appearances together since first being romantically linked in September. Though they had known each other socially, they reportedly hit it off at mutual friends Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding in July, before sparking dating rumors when they were photographed at Swift’s New York apartment in September. According to People , their friendship developed into something more over several months, though neither has publicly confirmed the nature of their relationship.

There has, however, been at least one particularly fashionable crossover. Both attended Vogue World: Milano in September, where Kelly walked the runway in a bright orange Byblos jumpsuit alongside Alex Consani, while Johnson watched from the front row in a plunging black Valentino dress. A rather glamorous way to spend an evening together, whether or not it constituted an official couple outing.

Back in Los Angeles, things were considerably more casual. Johnson toted a green glass water bottle and her phone as the pair made their way through a parking lot, with Kelly carrying a brown paper bag. They were subsequently seen climbing into a red sports car, Kelly holding its upward-opening door for Johnson.

And while the jury may still be out on their official relationship status, their contrasting personal styles are already proving to be an intriguing pairing. For Dakota Johnson, it’s all about the quiet appeal of a perfectly cut coats and flats; for Machine Gun Kelly, some outsized rock-and-roll vibes.
