Yahoo Sports Staff Updated Wed, October 14, 2026 at 9:35 PM UTC About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Another exciting week of NFL action is on the horizon, as Week 6 kicks off with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos on "Thursday Night Football."
The week will offer plenty of other marquee matchups, including another London showdown, this time between the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars, where new Texans wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. is expected to make his Houston debut after a trade from the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Then there's the AFC North clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, which should draw plenty of eyes amid quarterback Lamar Jackson's potential return from an ankle injury that kept him out of Week 5. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter , a league source says Jackson has a "realistic chance" of playing this week.
Some other injury news we'll be monitoring ahead of Week 6: Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (foot) didn't play a snap despite being active last week. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (hamstring) has a chance to return after practicing in full Wednesday , while Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is still expected to start after suffering a rib injury on Sunday night.
That's just a small look at what the league is serving up in Week 6. Follow along with Yahoo Sports for the latest NFL news, injury updates and more as we break down all you need to know ahead of this week's action.
Browns starting running back Quinshon Judkins did not practice on Wednesday, and he is dealing with an ankle injury.
Judkins will have two more practice sessions this week before getting a game designation on Friday. If he can't play on Sunday against the Ravens, Cleveland will use a combination of Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime in the backfield.
Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said running back Jeremiyah Love would not practice on Wednesday as he works on recovery from his ankle injury and gets extra rest.
LaFleur said they want to give him extra rest and see, as the week goes on, what that means for Sunday.
It seems likely that the Jets will once again be without starting running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in Week 6. Head coach Aaron Glenn stated that the two are still considered "week-to-week" on Wednesday as they work their way back from their respective injuries.
Hall has been out of the lineup since suffering a quad injury in Week 3, with backup Braelon Allen leading the run game in his absence, totaling 175 rushing yards and a score on the ground over the past two weeks.
Mitchell was off to a solid start this season with back-to-back games of 60-plus receiving yards in Weeks 1 and 2 before suffering a finger injury. Glenn confirmed Wednesday that Mitchell underwent a small procedure on his hand but that he is "moving his fingers around really, really well."
The Colts released their Wednesday practice report .
The report listed both Jonathan Taylor and Keenan Allen, but noted they were simply getting extra rest.
Allen did not practice, while Taylor was limited.
For now, there is no cause for concern, but if a future injury report cites an actual injury rather than rest, then there is concern about their availability for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans spoke to reporters after Wednesday's practice. Wednesday marked the first time we've seen new Houston wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. take the field since the Texans acquired him from the Cardinals.
Ryans told reporters that Harrison will make his Texans debut on Sunday when Houston takes on the Jaguars in London.
After Wednesday's practice, Ravens head coach Jesse Minter told reporters that quarterback Lamar Jackson is considered day-to-day.
Jackson is still dealing with an ankle injury and did not practice on Wednesday.
The Eagles' offense has lacked firepower with both Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith out of last week's game.
Barkley, who is dealing with a hamstring strain, was not seen at Wednesday's practice, ESPN's Tim McManus reports.
Smith was seen, but he was doing individual work off to the side. The best guess at this point is that the Eagles' injury report would show that Barkley didn't practice, but that Smith was limited.
Philly has two more days of practice before game statuses will be determined Friday afternoon.
Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty was on the injury report last Friday and missed practice with a foot injury.
He played in last week's game but had only 10 carries as Las Vegas was blown out by New England. Jeanty caught three passes for 50 yards.
On Wednesday, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak said that Jeanty is doing better physically. When asked whether the RB would need to sit out to recover, Kubiak said, "He's playing."
Philadelphia is getting some offensive reinforcements.
The Eagles are opening the 21-day return window for tight ends Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers.
Calcaterra has been on injured reserve for about a month due to a back injury. Stowers hasn't made his debut yet, even though the Eagles selected him in the second round of this year's draft.
The Eagles have been battered and bruised, but both DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley could return this week.
The Chiefs are coming off their bye week, and it sounds like they got healthier during the break.
Head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Wednesday that offensive tackle Josh Simmons will practice in some capacity.
Only wide receiver Rashee Rice is expected not to practice.
Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady conducted his weekly online news conference Tuesday. The appearance followed the team's overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Buffalo won despite star running back James Cook fumbling on the Bills' first overtime possession.
Brady addressed the fumble , the offensive issues, and what it could mean for Cook going forward on Tuesday:
"He's doing so many good things running the football, and I don't wanna lose sight of how great he's running the ball right now, but we're putting the ball on the ground, and it's negating all the positive. And I have all the confidence in him. That's why I put him right back out there.
But at some point, there has to be consequences when we're putting negative stuff out there. And so, it's conversations that we're having ongoing. James knows it's important to him, but, yeah, that can't happen. And it's gonna cost us football games and almost cost us one.
But we can't confuse because we won the game that that's OK. And so, it's gotta improve or the carries are gonna decrease."
The Patriots have opened Brown's 21-day practice window after he suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 1.
Brown will remain on injured reserve and the Patriots have three weeks to either activate him to the 53-man roster or shut him down for the season.
The Denver Broncos will be down another starter in the secondary this week, as starting safety Talanoa Hufanga is set to miss time — potentially 2-3 weeks — with an ankle injury, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler .
The Broncos are already without All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 and hasn't yet returned to practice.
One member of the secondary whose status for Thursday night's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks is unclear is that of starting cornerback Riley Moss, who also suffered a rib injury in Week 4. He's been limited in practice this week and is questionable to play, per Mile High Huddle's Zack Kelberman .
All signs point to Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams making a return against the Atlanta Falcons this week, as he's set to practice in full for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2, per head coach Ben Johnson .
He logged a limited practice last week in his return to the field and got in a pregame warm-up, which were all encouraging signs for his potential availability moving forward.
The Bears have gone 2-1 in three starts since his injury with quarterbacks Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent behind center.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski said Penix will be limited due to his rib injury, which is reportedly not considered serious. The quarterback exited Sunday night's overtime loss to the Ravens following a sack by Tavius Robinson in the fourth quarter.
Stefanski added that Penix is set to start Sunday against the Bears barring any setbacks.
Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders has signed with Adie von Gontard, CEO of Young Money APAA Sports, which also represents Travis Hunter, as reported Wednesday by ESPN's Adam Schefter .
Sanders has appeared in one game this season for the Browns. He's behind Deshaun Watson on the depth chart in Cleveland, where he lost a QB battle this offseason.
Watson's surprisingly led the Browns to a 3-2 start under first-year head coach Todd Monken. Last season as a rookie, Sanders started the team's final seven games. Along the way, the Browns went 3-4, and Sanders showed some flashes, except he wrapped the 2025 campaign with a 56.6% completion rate and a 7:10 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
It's worth noting the potential significance of midseason agent signings: Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. reportedly hired a pair of agents on Sept. 23 — he previously didn't have an agent — to navigate a possible trade. This past Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals dealt him to the Houston Texans .
Sanders went through draft night and the early part of his NFL career without an agent, per Schefter.
Free-agent NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill was found liable on two of 10 counts related to domestic violence in a civil trial on Tuesday night, according to The Athletic .
As a result, a jury awarded Hill's estranged wife $500,000 in compensatory damages as the trial came to a close in Miami.
Hill has been working to make a return to the NFL, potentially even reuniting with the Kansas City Chiefs . He spent six seasons with the franchise and helped it win Super Bowl LIV. Hill hasn't played since his split with the Dolphins in February, which came after a gruesome knee injury.
It's unclear if Hill would face discipline from the league now that his civil trial is over. An NFL spokesperson told The Athletic on Tuesday night after the verdict that the league has been "monitoring developments in the matter, which remains under review of the personal conduct policy."
The NFL's policy does not require criminal charges for a player to be disciplined. But as Hill is currently a free agent, any discipline the league hands down wouldn't kick in until he signs with a new team.
Jackson missed Sunday night's win overtime win against the Falcons due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 4.
Head coach Jesse Minter said Monday that Jackson was improving and was looking forward to seeing the quarterback in practice later this week.
"He's definitely doing better. Wednesday, I'm not sure about exactly how that practice will look," Minter said . "To Lamar's credit, he's doing everything he can to get back out there. I think we'll know more by the middle of the week."
Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales offered an encouraging update for the status of injured wide receiver Jalen Coker Tuesday.
Coker's status for Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles remains unconfirmed, but he "looked great" in practice, according to Canales.
"He looked great. Coker looked great," Canales told reporters. "He had a really nice day today. We'll see how he responds."
The Panthers are coming off a bye week. Coker missed Week 4 with a quadriceps injury, but was in the midst of a breakout prior to his injury.
Through three games, Coker has 18 catches for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns. In his previous two seasons, Coker didn't tally more than 478 yards or 3 touchdowns in a single campaign.
Alongside reigning Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan (39 catches, 385 yards, 2 TDs in 4 games), Coker provides quarterback Bryce Young with a potent and promising 1-2 tandem at wide receiver.
