Life with pet birds is never boring, even when those birds live outside with other farm animals. That’s right—I’m talking about chickens.
These friendly little birds can be a wonderful source of eggs on a farm, but they can also be easygoing companions that make any farm, ranch, or backyard a little bit cuter. As farmer Capri Loegering discovered on October 15, chickens love to have fun, too, though it’s rare to actually catch them in the middle of their shenanigans as she did in her viral video.
Look at them go! These chickens may not be able to soar like a bald eagle, but they know how to turn the world into their own personal playground. We could learn a thing or two from them about resourcefulness and the importance of having fun.
“The fact that they waited in line” had commenters like @lexikeith8892 laughing out loud. This really was an organized endeavor, and I can’t help but wonder whether these playful birds have tried this before. After all, girls just want to have fun!

@Fkyu7709 couldn’t get enough of “animals having their own lil fun,” and it’s safe to say they’re not alone. In less than a week, over 8 milli have watched the chickens slide down the banister, and it’s changing how people view these farm birds for good.
Understanding and Appreciating Chickens
“All animals play, they love, they grieve,” wrote @7drunkenmermaids. “I wish people would stop thinking that they are less than, and that they don’t have feelings.”

I recently stayed on my aunt’s farm, and I was pleasantly surprised at just how much I loved the resident chicken. She’s a chatty, confident bird who is thriving alongside the goats now that the rest of her flock has died, and I could 100% see her pulling a stunt like this.
Chickens may not have the colorful feathers of the peacock or the impressive endurance of an emu, but they are wonderful animals that are often undervalued. They can be affectionate, smart, and even silly—just ask Capri!
